Having battery troubles with controller

My Xbox One controller was running low on batteries, so I tried to put some new ones in, but no matter which batteries I put in, the controller won’t turn on! I’ve tried many batteries but sometimes when I press the logo, the light flashes and blinks and then fades away. And I really wanna play the new NBA 2k20 I just bought!

How long does the light flash for before turning off? The controller will go to sleep if it’s unsuccessful in pairing, and this will look like the controller waking up, flashing for a while, then going back to sleep. Have you tried re-pairing the controller?
