MacBook Pro is not booting up

Hello,

I'm having an issue with a mid-2014 MacBook Pro Retina not booting up that started a couple months ago.

When I try to plug in the power cable, the LED light on the power cable initially shows as green, but then switches to orange after a few seconds. It then always stays orange (even if I leave it plugged in overnight). I have tried the following things:

  • Reset the SMC
  • Swapped out charger cable (with a brand new one)
  • Tried to boot in safe mode
  • Swapped the battery with a brand new one
  • Swapped the Magsafe 2 DC-in board with a brand new one

Could this be an issue with the logic board?

Thanks

Lets see what CoconutBattery tells us whats happening with the batteries charging. Take a snapshot with the MagSafe connected and a second after disconnecting the MagSafe. Do give it a few minutes so the app sees the disconnection. Post both here for us to see. Adicionar imagens a uma pergunta já existente

Most probably yes, it’s a logic board issue, I’d guess the battery is not getting charged if you already tried replacing it. You may have a look at battery data on system information App that will show if/how much power battery is getting or you may download Coconut Battery to have some further info.

You talk about replacing the MagSafe cable I don't recommend doing that for a couple of different reasons. Ideally you should use a good charger and a real one as well. Review this Apple T/N Apple Portables: Troubleshooting MagSafe adapters and review this OEM MagSafe Chargers vs Cheap Imposters: Teardown for Truth. And lastly the MagSafe cable has a chip in it! If you use the wrong cable you can mess up your systems charging logic Teardown and exploration of Apple's Magsafe connector

Stick with a real charger and don't mess with the cable its not worth the cost What does knockoff charger do to Macbook Pro Retina?

Hi All,

Eventually took it to an apple store and they said the logic board needed to be replaced. Thanks for the comments.
