Screen wont lay flat

I had to replace a broken screen and the issue I have is it wont lay flat at the top or lower part of the ipod.. it has a small gap.

What can I do ti make it fit right? and more so what is causing it to not lay flush?

There is adhesive used to hold the LCD in place at the points you are referring to. If you don't clean off the adhesive before applying new adhesive for your replacement panel, that would cause it to not lay flush. With the iPhones, adhesive build-up would cause this issue. When people use a heat gun and separate their original panel from their device, sometimes that causes the adhesive to get messy. The iPod Touch is similar. Maybe that's what's going on.

The gap is a little too big for I think tape just to cure it If you try holding the two areas down so they lay somewhat flatter the screen starts to turn into the rainbow effect with too much pressure.

So I don't understand what's going on

May also be getting the digitizer ribbon caught under the LCD. When you disassembled, did the speaker come up at all? It is easy to take out of place when removing the digi

Sorry for the late reply but it seems that's what it is but I can't seem to figure out how to get it to fold down to reach the connection and have the screen lay flush.

But it for sure is the digitizer ribbon cable.

What should I do?

It folds over on itself, so kind of a back and forth motion. With some replacement parts there is a "perforated" (broken-white line) to where it is meant to fold.

I agree with Chris in that most new parts won't have the cable folded so you need to do that yourself in order to make sure it fits. I don't know if that would cause both ends to stick up though. I seem to remember the last time I replaced one of these panels that there was something not seated correctly near the top of the logic board (by the digitizer connector). I remember having a similar issue but after fiddling with it a bit, I got it to sit correctly and it worked fine. I know that's rather general but I can't remember exactly what was causing it.

Just to add more information to this thread. When you are done replacing the screen I always find it best to reheat the ipod again so that you get it to sit properly .. After heating it place some objects on top like a book or two so that it can cure overnight. Careful not to use too much weight..
