Why is my screen black? I know it works and so does the battery.

I replaced the rear case of this phone I’m working on. And have also replaced the screen. I was told it just needed a new screen when I bought it and I thought that would suffice. I have tried using the battery and screen from another phone I have fixed and know to be working. But it stays black. I’ve tried shining a bright light to see if its the backlight and I can’t see anything on the screen. When I try to restore it on itunes it recognises the phone and says its locked with a password. I’m not sure what’s going on the but the previous rear case was slightly bent. I think there is some problem with the logic board, specifically the LCD connector. Is there a way I can test this or diagnose it?

When you suspect the logic board is the problem, it is the problem.

In many cases, iPhone screen is black because the cable that connects the LCD to the logic board has become dislodged.

How Do You Know Whether the Display Is Dislodged Or Broken?

There are no guarantees, but my rule of thumb is this:

  • If your iPhone display stopped working after you dropped it, your screen is probably black because the LCD cable (display data connector) has become dislodged from the logic board.
  • If your iPhone display stopped working after it got wet, your screen is probably black because the LCD is broken and needs to be replaced.

If you believe your iPhone LCD cable (display data cable) has simply become dislodged from the logic board, you’re very tech-savvy, and going to an Apple Store isn’t an option, reconnecting the display data cable to the logic board isn’t that difficult, if you have the right tools.

Replacing the display is very complex because of the number of components involved. I do not recommend you try to fix this problem yourself, because it’s just too easy to break something and “brick” your iPhone.

Did you read what I wrote? I don’t think you did. The LCD is fine. Neither is it stuck on the Apple logo. If you’re going to provide an answer then at least read the question first. Because when you jump into the thread with your patronising self serving rhetoric you just come across like a buffoon. And I’m quite capable of changing an LCD thanks lmao :)

Thanks but it seems like you just read the title and jumped the gun. You didn't read any of the description.
