1 LEDs 1 and 2 light no chime... next steps.
This is my personal go to iMac, has everything I need. Stock except for SSD (installed more than a year ago) and GPU was replaced 2 years ago under warranty when the gray vertical bars appeared.
Was using this computer and it just went to light grey screen. Tried to reboot nothing, no chime just HD and DVD spun... and of course fans.
Opened up first two LEDs light when power is installed and power button pushed.... that’s it. After about a minute the fans go to high speed. Not an iMac experienced guy, please offer suggestions.... bought a new 27” but sent it back after thinking of the $2700 it costs, and in truth not that much better then my i7.

Did you swap the HD for the SSD or add it as a second drive?

Reconnect the display, and this time press and hold the T key to get into Target Disk Mode, are you able to get the FireWire and Thunderbolt Icons to show on the screen?
