The Mercedes-Benz W126 is a series of S-Class automobiles manufactured by Mercedes-Benz between 1979 and 1992. Premiering in September 1979 as the successor to the W116 line, the W126 was the second generation to officially bear that prestigious designation, an abbreviation for the German Sonderklasse or "special class." The W126 was initially offered with straight-six, V8, and a turbocharged diesel engine for the sedan. A C126 2-door coupé versions was introduced in September 1981.

lower oil cooler and oil filter housing removal

is it ok to remove the idle screw on the rear of the fuel injector pump to be able to reach the lower oil cooler line nut attached to the oil filter housing?

How do I adjust the idler bolt back once I take it off? how many turns?

It is ok if you return the screw to the same position . This can be done in one of two ways . First and my favoured way is to turn the screw in till it bottoms out or stops and count the turns as you turn it in . be sure to count the turns as you go in and don't tighten it . Just go in til its snug. I count by quarter turns going in. Then when you remove the screw and its time to return it to its proper position, turn it all the way in till it bottoms out then turn it back the proper number or turns that you counted off to begin with. The second way mot as accurate is simply to count the number of turns as you turn the screw out . Then run it back in the same number of turns when replacing it . You may also want to pay attention to your idle speed before hand with the car at a hot idle . if you have a tachometer on the car this is easy if not you can get a hand held unit and set the idle back to where it ran well in the first place . Hope this helps

be mindful of any springs that may be on the idle screw


thank you so much, i just dont want brake something else if it is not broken, when taking the oil filter housing. it is awfully dificult to remove the oil cooler lines.
