Convert Mini to Server

I would like to convert my Mac Mini to a Mac Server by performing the following:

1. Removing the Superdrive.

2. Installing two 3.5" 1TB 7200RPM SATA drives in a RAID 1 configuration in seperate stackable external enclosures.

3. Installing an External Superdrive via USB.

4. Installing OSX Snow Leapord Server.

Basically combing these two links:

Solução escolhida

The iFixit link tells of the two drives being installed internally and the internal optical drive removed, external (anything - USB or firewire) will slow them down. I would do the external drive in a firewire enclosure to be able to boot from it if disk utilities are needed. I would definitely max the RAM out. Of course everything depends on this being a Intel processor machine. Place the unit in a well ventilated position to help with any overheating issues.

You may want to add an additional partition to the drive for a version of Linux, or FreeBSD. You may as well want to make sure that the external enclosure is firewire 800, as this provides more bandwith than USB (800MB/s FW800 from 480MB/s USB)
