my book is broken and just the inside hard drive is ok.

i'm near to san diego california. is the old version the total space is per 500gb
but i keep it because this has personal pictures from my family that i want to recover.

The My Books have been produced for a long time and there are various sizes of that snap on cover. I would look on yours for the model number, then shop on eBay for one being sold for parts.
