MacBook A1278 2008 backlight issue

I having backlight issues. I have researched all over the internet with no luck on finding the location of the backlight fuse.

Everything else works great on the computer besides barely being able to see the screen. I have all the necessary tools as well as a donor board to take parts from.

I'm just unable to locate the fuse! If anyone has any further information on this motherboard it would be greatly appreciated.

Getting Frustrated! Been without my poor MacBook for 3 months!

I've replaced the LCD and LCD cable (3 times!) Can anyone help?

Can you tell us if an external monitor worked and did you aim a flashlight though the Apple logo (poor mans backlight) to see if you could even see your desktop icons.

If you can see an image on both then you'll need to focus on the backlight logic.

Works perfect on external monitor and you can slightly see the display coming from the screen, however it is still present. I do notice there to be some indications of corrosion where the lcd cable connects(which you can see I the last image I posted). Could a bad lcd connector cause no backlight? Is it possible for the fuse to still be bad although it has continuity?Thank you!

There is your backlight fuse, bottom side near the graphic chip. By the way, it's a MacBook Unibody, not the MacBook Pro.

@arbaman i have located the fuse and tested it for continuity and it doesn't seem to be a bad fuse. Any other ideas on why I could have a bad backlight?

@mayer I shall figure out something worth mentioning about myself, you are right. Happy Easter !

I had hoped it was the fuse, but quite often that's only a consequence of some other fault. The Lcd connector doesn't seem in such a bad condition, but it could be damaged deep in and cause the problem..you could try cleaning it with a soft brush and some isopropyl alcohol and blow it with some compressed air. Then check accurately, if possible with some kind of magnifier. And no, if the fuse gives continuity it can't be bad, you have to concentrate elsewhere.

To add to Arbaman's answer. The fuse on on the backside of the logic board here's a more inclusive image for reference (green circle). The fuse will either have a white dot or the letter 'P' on it:

in addition to what ha been said, I had the same problem and I fixed it very easily. Since I had no fuse ready at the moment, I just decided to short it since I had some very important and urgent data that I had to extract. If you can't afford the repair, try the shorting.
