iPhone randomly resets itself

My iphone 6s always had the latest update installed however occasionally it resets itself. It happens while using the phone or while it's locked. It can happen while it's charging or while it's connected to my computer for sync. Sometimes it locks and I can't press or do anything and a few seconds later I see some random colors on the display and then it resets itself.

Sometimes, in the morning it asks for my "passkey after restart" so I know it has restarted itself during the night. These episodes seem to happen completely random, I haven't been able to re-produce them intentionally.

My phone is still within the 12 month warranty from apple but I don't know how the problem might be replicated if I send this in for warranty.

Any advice on how I could narrow this down? Maybe there are some logs that I could read to find out what happens? I'm afraid that if I send it in for warranty and it does not reset itself while in the technician hands they might send it back with no problem found.

I am windows user so I am looking under "AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\Logs\CrashReporter\MobileDevice\" and I'm seeing lots of log files but I'm not sure where to look more precisely.

no water or other type of damage.

I would go ahead and restore the device completely and try to backup your device then.

I already tried that with no results.

Get it replaced under warranty by apple. It's a hardware issue that you should get it replaced by them.

Sounds like a bad battery or battery going bad. Very common behavior for this.

Just some additional info the battery does hold charge like it was new but it could still be the battery chip that's causing this..

I managed to find the panic logs for these events and it looks like this:

"bug_type":"210"

"panicString" : "panic(cpu 1 caller 0xfffffff018e23838): \"apcie[0:s3e]::handleInterrupt: Unexpected link down

I can't seem to find much info on bug_type 210..

The phone was replaced by Apple with a new one. They didn't say what the problem was, they just replaced it.

Had the same issue and it was not the battery… finally found the issue, it’s the back camera that caused this random restart.

Hi- I just replaced my IPhone 7 back camera. I am also having random restarts since updating to IOS 14. How did you see that the back camera was the culprit?

por

@rudra I basically unplug everything that connected to logic board and see which one was creating an issue. In this case, the back camera was the culprit. I found the most common random restart is the back camera or the TouchID flex cable.
