Grinding sound won't move
My Toy Story Collection talking mr potato won't move his legs like it's supposed to and is making a grinding sound how to fix it

- The Real Mr. Potato has no moving Parts. He doesn't move either, at least on his own.
- Open up Mr. Potato's back and dump out the innards.

Gearbox gear repair.
It seems to be a fundamental problem for the product.
All the problematic products are the same gear problem.
The two gears in question must be repaired by opening the gearbox.
It would be easy to get the same gear, but...
A gear is cracked.
The thickness of the steel pipe in the middle is larger than the gear hole, resulting in a crack.
Secure the cracked gear with glue and expand the hole.
Grind steel pipes to make the hunger thin.

The cracked side of the gear needs to be cut and glued. This ensures a constant gap between the teeth.

The gears were first disconnected and then polished the bumpy part of the metal pin.Cut off the cracked part a little and fix it with a force adhesive. Apply a little glue to the metal pins and fasten them with the gears.

@weirdalfan1 No, i have not. Cut off the cracked part of the gear. Because it is to fit each gap in the gears. This is important.
Hi there please can you help me. My mr potato head is also broken. He talks but does not wobble. Could you maybe do a step for step guide with photos on how to fix him..... im part of a toy story collection group on facebook and it seems to be a regular problem. If you could do that im sure you would help allot of people we all struggling.please please pretty please. I love my mr potato head and so badly want to fix him i have spent days trying to figure it out but havnt come right. :(

Step-by-Step Fix
- Disassembly: Document each component’s position and assembly order with photos.
- Gear replacement: Swap the damaged gears with precision-matched custom gears.
- Lubrication: Apply silicone-based grease to all moving parts.
- Reassembly: Reverse the disassembly sequence strictly.
Simply using glue to repair a broken gear often doesn’t work. Initially, I tried that approach too, but the result was that it still jammed. Because the gears in Mr. Potato Head are very precision-engineered, I ended up repairing it successfully by replacing the gears with custom-made ones

Hi hi, i wanted to find out did you manage to fix your mr potato head? Mine is doing the same thing…he speaks but no longer wobbles. Please help. It must be the gears … i glued the 2 cracked gears but when i put him back together he still doesnt work.
