Why are some buttons not working?

Everytime I press the home button it does not respond and it stays on the app or page. My second problem is when I turn my tablet on the lock screen does not appear so it goes directly to the home page. Someone please help me it is urgent. I have already restarted and rebooted the device and nothing works.!!!!! Please help!
