LCD backlight "stagelighting" & intermittent image garbling + whine

Hello all - any help very much appreciated. Have some ever-present "stagelight" or "spotlight" effect at the bottom of my screen, as seen in the first picture. Also, as seen in the second, the display at time locks at fades into garbled lines.

It works perfectly on external monitor, also the second image is intermittent, and moving the screen or applying pressure to the bezel helps resolve it.

In addition, at anything less than full brightness there's a quiet high-pitched [incredibly annoying!] "whine" that gets quieter as brightness is lowered.

Here's the relevant area on my logic board... looks ok: http://i.imgur.com/f5RRNoP.jpg

This a problem with the LCD itself or just the LVDS cable possibly? Works perfectly when connected to an external monitor.

Far M, the stage lighting could be caused by issues with the LED returns. Check the resistors around your LVDS connector. Also check the LED driver. For that you will of course need the logic board schematic, the boardview files and a good multimeter. Looking at your images, it is also conceivable that you need a new display. Might be the best place to start off.

Thanks - yeah, I guess we sort of have to proceed by process of elimination at this point, huh... how do I find the particular code I need to get the right schematic for my logic board? Will something like this tell me what I need to know? http://www.amazon.com/Etekcity-Digital-M...

Yes it will and if you look on your mother board you should see a 820-XXXX number. Use that to search for the schematic

Hey there! So finally got around to this. It's 820-2530-A. Think I've found the schematic but not a clue what to do with it!

Identify and check the resistors around your LVDS connector.

This issue has now been addressed by Apple meaning they will fix this issue under warranty and pay for shipping to get your MacBook Pro back to you all within a week. Just went to pick my laptop up from the Apple Store.
