Compatible replacement battery part number A1375 or A1406

Hello

The macbook air 11" / 2010 (A1370 model) , the battery is swollen and needs changing.

On removing the battery, it says - A1375 ( 020-6921-A)

I presume the A1375 is the battery part number?

I've seen variations of battery replacements on sale.

Does the battery have to be the exact same part number?

Or are there other newer batteries that can be used?

For example the A1406 battery?

Would a mid 2011 macbook air 11" (battery part number A1406).

Work safely in a late 2010 macbook air 11" ? (Original battery part number A1375).

Whats the difference if any ?

The only difference I see is the part number. The connector plug to logic board, the 35wh wattages are the same as is the7.3 voltage.

Did apple just rename the part number between model years?

Can anyone confirm?

Don't mess around with a wrong part. Get one that is made for your machine to avoid destroying it, a A1375.

Yes thanks, your right. I did a bit of research into this battery compatibility.

I used info from the 'floureon , newertech & amazon' websites, the sellers of after market replacement batteries.

The advice is the A1375 battery can only be used on a 11" / 2010 / A1370 macbook air.

Even though the voltage, wattage, plug connector & shpae are identical, the A1406 battery cannot be used on the 11" / 2010 / A1370 macbook air.

The A1406 battery is only for mid 2011 / 11" macbook air model A1370 onwards.

I have asked the manufacturers the same questions and it will be interesting to find out the answer from them, thats if they know.

Until then, I will replace with the exact same part number.

That's exactly right. My battery is starting to swell up I need to take it out asap and find one worth putting it.

they are different the a1375 have the connector in different place
