Silver Conductive Paste Question

I added in a new polarizer into my replacement, but i forgot to apply the silver conductive paste. I don't really understand the paste other than the fact it's used to prevent static. When i reattached the ribbons from the lcd onto the phone, the touch no longer worked. There wasn't any static, there just wasnt touch. Does the paste have anything to do with this? What mightve affected the touch sensitivity?

The silver paste is mainly for static and some times touch. Its very important to put that silver paste back on. Here is a link of a video which talks about silver paste. Could also be the LCD ribbon cable and connector that could also affect the touch function open the phone and exam the LCD connectors on the board as well as the screen and check for signs of damage or missing pin connectors.

I've done a lot of successful iphone 5 and 5s repairs but I've never heard of using silver conductive paste with the repair. Not unless you were building the screen yourself before installing it.

Is the polorizer on the front of the display or are you installing this inside of the device under the replacement lcd/digitizer?

Many things could affect the touch. From a bit of static bouncing from your finger to the digitizer connector. Or touching the three bits of solder that are on the flex cable of the new screen. Or you could be looking at a simply defective part.

Hope this helps.

Good luck.

Well, it's just because when i remove the glass, there are times where i accidentally cut into the polarizer at the beginning and this forces me to remove it and apply a new polarizer. This polarizer is above the LCD and beneath the glass, so it's like in the middle of those two. The layer you clean after removing glass is the polarizer im referring to. Hm, it was all working really well before, idk what it could be. Maybe a reset would do the trick. But, as for as i know, i didn't touch the solder, or bend the digitzer ribbon. But i appreciate your time, thanks so much. So, you've never had to use the paste?

Also, thanks for sharing the intel on the touch, that will help out for a long time.
