Nexus 5 stucks on lollipop when turning ON

When pressing the start button, the Nexus 5 gets stuck in the lollipop screen, with the colors flying around and it never boots.

I waited for over a day without any reaction.

I also tried to clear the cache and re-set the device to factory settings, clearing all memories. Nothing changed.

Any ideas/suggestions?
