Trackpad Issue: Need to switch Trackpad?

Hello,

my gf's mbp touchpad click is not working anymore. I checked the update history and there was a ios patch but I'm not sure if this is relevant at all.

She brought it to the apple store but they said that they are not allowed to fix it anymore since it's to old.

Using time machine or creating a new user won't fix the issue but after exiting sleepmode the mbp the click will work for a few seconds.

I tried to change the screw but the issue remains.

Is there another possible sollution or do I need to switch out the whole track pad?
