The solution to blocked simlock removal after 5 tries.

Is there anything i can do about the simlock block? Previous owner must've blocked it, and my cellphone operator wishes to charge me a ridiculous amount for it and leave me without a phone for 2 to 3 weeks (hurray Orange!) Any help would be greatly appriecieated.
