Last weekend, my iPhone 5s got wet and the battery life started to suffer so I replaced it with a battery from Amazon. However, the battery is still draining fast. Is there something else that could be the problem such as a short in the phone?

1) update the IOS if available
2) Remove all unwanted apps in your phone
3) back and reset the phone and boot as a new iphone and check whether issue reaming same if yes your Supposition can be right. run the correct diagnostic on logic board by apple certified technician

It's possible. Did you deal with the water damage or just replace the battery? If you only replaced the battery there are a lot of possibilities. Check you connectors and flex cables. Especially check if the battery connector is undamaged and debris free.
