Can I Replace RAM?
Hi,
I bought a MacBook Pro 13 "Late 2015 8GB RAM. Can I replace the RAM to 16GB?

Details: *There are no RAM slots. 8 GB of RAM is onboard. It can be upgraded to 16 GB only at the time of purchase.
What are you running that would require more than 8 GB of RAM?

You can, but with the $7000 in BGA rework equipment needed for the job, you're better off just buying another board, and then selling yours.

Louis, with the work you do, you probably have this BGA. What do you charge to do it?
Honestly I don't offer it as a service. I tried once. First as usual no new RAM chips are available, just junk pulled off of other boards, god forbid Apple allow any of these vendors to sell these parts to repair centers. :( Secondly you have to do one at a time which is a nightmare. I could have zhuo mao come up with a custom nozzle that sends air in a rectangularish fashion to every chip in one foul swoop, but considering the lack of demand for this service, the work involved, the likelihood of chips not working, and my current pile of 60+ boards in the queue at any given time with no one but me here to fix them, it is just a bad investment of my time. :(
But technically doable!
So after reviving one air board with bad RAM chips, I just decided not worth it. It took an insane amount of time and effort. If I had a steady source of proper, pre-balled chips that weren't factory rejects, and a line of people who wanted this out the door, I'd do it, but it isn't the case. :(
