LCD and Touch screen replaced, part of screen not working?

hey guys/gals,

have just replaced the touch screen and lcd on daughters ipod touch 2nd gen, all is better except that the first 10mm (1/2") is not touch sensitive, the visual is fine but not the touch feature, any ideas pls would be great
