Why can't I turn on safe mode in my ps3 super slim?

Alright , so , I have tried to follow the rules in Playstation.com of how to get into safe mode but it doesn't work on super slim . I don't know if it doesn't even work in super slim , but the only reason i need it is that whenever I try restoring my corrupt data , it gets stuck at 47% . So when i tried using safe mode according to the rules given in Playstation.com , it beeps once then it turns on , and then another beep after approximately 5 seconds and then it's supposed to be two beeps rapidly but it beeps once and then the ps3 system turns off !

I need serious help , please answer.

I have the superslim ps3 console and i tried to update it to the newest update i tried to update several times and i get an error code now every time i turn on the system it tries to update all by itself and whenever i put it in safe mode it still is trying to update by itself. My ps3 is stuck trying to update and i can,t do anything about it. The last time it did this i had to get a new hardrive i do not want to get a second new hardrive. Please help me i do not want to get a hardrive every time my update gets stuck.

This is the way I perform the steps.

1. With the console "OFF", push power button and hold, it will power on, continuing holding the power button until it powers off.

2. Then release the power button.

3. Push and hold the power button again. It will beep and then double beep.

4. After that, release the power button and you should get the screen with the different options.

Well this $@$* doesn't work . my controller is a wired controller meaning a USB cable controller. And I have hooked it in to the play station 3 and now my controller won't come on what should I do?

Same here, it tries to fix corrupt files, gets stuck at 47-48%....... try to get safe mode, when it says” hook usb controller up and push PS button, it will Not bring up the menu....it won’t recognize the controller, hence, it’s USB, and obviously won’t recognize wireless either....what a joke

Hi,

Yes, it's work at super slim too. Switch off the console by holding the Power button (press and hold it contentiously until the PS3 powers off).

Now press and hold again the power button. Hold it until the console beeps 4 times (one beep, one beep, then two beeps), then release the Power button.

Now you are in the Recovery menu.

Every time I try it it says connect the controller using a USB cable then press the PS button. And I am doing that and nothing is happening

My ps3, like when I turn it on it says you didnt turn off the ps3 correctly and I press ok , it loads and stops at 77 and the start up shows and in the middle of it it freezes?

Remove the HDD and format it at FAT32. Then install it and reinstall the firmware. You will lost your personal data!

I did this but got hung up on the connect the controller screen. I pressed the PS button but nothing.

my playstation will turn on but not boot at all, nor will it get into safe/recovery mode. blank black screen and no sound. only way I herd was to but a new hdd and download the newest ps3 system update off the website onto a thumbdrive from a computer. then, slip new hdd into ps3 and safe mode should work and install update from thumbdrive from safe/recover mode and should be good from there. and you may be able to save some game data off the old hdd by getting a external hdd cradle and hooking it up to the ps3 usb and get into safe mode/recovery mode and go from there. or take your hdd and stick it into another ps3 and try safe mode from there.

Nothin is helping me I've tried all the solutions on here and still nothing. I'm to the point where i'm going to smash this dam thing Any other suggestions i'm open to all help.

I turn on the ps3 until first beeps and held till 10 seconds then come the 2nd beeps then my ps3 shutdown. Then i try the same thing again hold the button with first beep then hold for 5 - 10 seconds but i didnt get the 2 rapid beeps, just like the first time, beeps again and shutdown. Pls help :(

I did it, opened the menu, selected rebuild database, it froze at 0% the first time. I unplugged it, tried getting back into the menu, it started automatically rebuilding the database, got to 9% then the screen went blank. I waited 20 minutes, unplugged it, now it won't go back into the menu screen. I'm lost....

Hi,

Bought one used for Christmas for my kids and went to run update and wipe it clean and I got stuck in the update loop like everyone else on this thread. I just found out this was a jailbreak PS3…is that why I can't get safe mode to work?
