I believe the issue may be what I've experienced twice myself. If you look at the photos https://d3nevzfk7ii3be.cloudfront.net/ig... and https://d3nevzfk7ii3be.cloudfront.net/ig... you will see the black gasket piece that sits over the top of the these 2 sensors. While in image https://d3nevzfk7ii3be.cloudfront.net/ig... (which sadly is the condition both of mine managed to get reassembled in) the piece is missing. In one instance I held myself entirely accountable for the mistake and purchased the client a slightly used but never opened phone of the same model. During comparison of them I found this part, placed it on the clients original phone and the issue was 100% resolved. My question is, does anyone know where we can find just this piece as I have a very kind and patient lady awaiting my resolution to this same issue?

Is that piece made of black rubber? If so, then I lost track of that piece during a screen replacement. Now the phone's proximity sensor has failed low, even though the IR led and light sensor are still working. I'd also like to know if replacement parts can be had, or if proximity-related features can be disabled, using a factory code, or otherwise.

Has anyone found a way to fix this issue or substitute the missing rubber gasket? i have the same issue and can't find a working app to disable the proximity sensor.

Yes, I did. Get a black/two sided tape and cut it about 1mm wide(http://www.lowes.com/pd_394705-98-414/DC...). Proximity sensor is consisted of an emitor(round white plastic housed LED) and detector(square grey photo transistor). Make two-layer(due to thickness of the tape) "8" pattern(more like font 8 used in digital clock) around emitter and detector. You need a tweezer and lighted magnifying lens to do this as the proximity sensor is very small. You need to be a bit of handy person as well.
Yes, it worked. The proximity sensor reading was 3.0, inch I think, fixed without it, but it now varies from 1 to 100(use Proximity Sensor Test app) with this 3M tape fix.

Thanks for the great idea. I cut the same small figure 8 pattern out of rubber from a bike tire and placed it over the sensors. Now my phone works perfectly!
