Could you help? I've done as you've said about holding power button and I've got the screen where it says connect controller. My problem that my controller won't connect, I'm using the cable from remote to ps3 but the red lights flash on controller and it goes off. Also I've tried restarting the controller but still the same..

Do you try with another controller?
The symptoms are like your battery (inside of the controller) isn't ok or the USB connector on the controller is damaged or... your controller is broken ):

I charged them on a working system and they actually when I go to the other room and try to connect with the super slim model they turn on the older model and connect with it from another room
Use the 'new' usb cable :)

I have 5 usb cables , even with it connect to the system it will not pick them up it turns my earlier model on in another room
