Sourcing chassis screws for Mac mini

Hello ifixit... I need to source the chassis screws (4) that hold the main assy to the base. An authorized repair outlet that I foolishly permitted to work on my Mac mini didn't reinstall them - threw them out! They actually told me that they're not needed, to which I immediately deleted them from my rolodex... Please tell me you at least have some sort of 'screw kit' for the Mac mini? Trying to find them is a major pain... Pls advise. Thanks in advance. Chas Hulme

These are the only screws I could find for the mac mini--I hope they are what you are looking for. Ralph

I would give the bill to the outlet. I don't think Apple would agree with them as Apple put the screws in for a purpose.

Thanks much, I'll check it out.

As far as sticking the repair outlet with the bill, I think it's too late for that, unfortunately. The missing screws is something that I discovered long after the repair actually took place - like over a year. Even though I have little doubt (like none) that they reassembled the chassis sans screws, they would be justified in balking at my claim. And trying to go after them would just generate a bunch of unproductive angst... They know that I won't be back again and they will reap my poor experience in reviews, so I leave it to their business ethics to decide what to do, even if nothing...

Thanks again for the help.

Hey, perhaps people who need such small screws can speak to someone who works in camera/electronics repair.

As I imagine that they are the people who would have screws of a similar size.

I am not sure if it is possible to use the mac mini without the mobo fixed properly with all screws. Although I imagine that this is possible although not advisable. Perhaps one alternative solution is to find a cheap new case for your mac mini, which comes with screws?

Although I imagine that this isn't an ideal solution either as Mac Mini's generally look pretty cool and I am not sure if any manufacturer out there makes an alternative case designed specifically to house the mac mini.

Personally I think that Apple are typically mean to not offer a service to supply such basic component parts. I imagine the cost of such small parts as screws would be a penny for half a dozen. And keeping in mind the likely hood of losing such screws when upgrading or fixing. I think they are very mean!

Especially for mac mini mobo screws which are an unusual size not found from most computer component suppliers!

Boo Apple. You mean buggers!

If I didn't use Apple Logic Pro, I would likely not use apple as they are miles more expensive than other manufacturers and their OS doesn't offer that much extra than os like Ubuntu which is completely FREE!!!

Apple Beware!!!

Don't out price yourself out of the market!
