The hard drive in my ipod classic 60gb has failed, i have got a new replacement (240gb). I am having issues with it working and am wondering if i have to update my firmware or format the drive in some way, also how would i do such things as the original hard drive is no more..

No Need for any more help on this, solved it.. I'm an idiot... put the hard drive in the wrong way around,.. no wonder it wouldn't work, but thanks for your help anyway... Moral of the story, don't drink and fix at the same time.....

My ipod has the hard ware issue symbol appear on the screen, i want to run rockbox on my ipod so don't care about the apple software, but how do i install it if i can't even see the hard drive on my pc?
