I have two oranges, and after carefully separating each one from its delightful orange packaging, I proceeded through the teardown to the tasting phase. One orange is lovely and sweet, the other is quite sour! Why is that? Is there a way to sweeten the sour orange?

Watch where you purchase your oranges from. Third-party vendors such as eBay, Amazon, or Newegg tend to have defective items shipped in from China.

Some of this devices are sour and the warranty don't apply, you will need to disassemble it and repair it. When it's disassembled spray some saccharose over it. That should solve the problem
