Dim screen after getting damp

The screen went very dim after getting damp, I saw on YouTube how this can be mended by taking the back off, disconnecting the rear screen, then re-connect. This did not work on mine, and in the process of taking it apart I cracked the rear screen. I can buy both rear and front screens on Amazon, but does anyone know if this will fix it?

Well usually from what I have seen in the past the screen being white or dim after water damage could indicate a bad or damaged LCD and the LCD will need to be replaced.

I am confused as to which device you have? Post indicates an iPod Touch (there are several different generations and modles, so we would need to know which) And also I am confused because you say you took the rear screen off. Are you referring to the LCD behind the front glass? or something physically on the BACK of the device? If its the LCD you cracked behind the front glass/digitizer assembly....Then you should only need to replace this to get it working as long as you dont have a 4th gen...

Some more details on the device would be greatly helpful!

Thanks!!

For Dim or No backlight due to water damage, there are usually two reasons that can cause this:

1. LCD is damaged. (unlikely considering its only the back light)

2. The Logic Board Coil/IC chip/Fuse got shorted. (these are the components that sends power to the backlight)

-If it really is the LCD that is damaged, you simply just have to change it.

-If its the logic board chips, you will need to know how to solder and own a soldering station which is fairly expensive.

-If you are going to do the repair yourself, assuming you own a iPod Touch 4th gen. you have to understand the flow of the current and also the order you have to repair:

Backlight coil > Backlight IC > Fuse resistor > LCD Connector

If you want to learn more about where the chips are and where to purchase the chips I recommend [www.CyberDocLLC.com|CyberDocLLC]. They have a whole repair guide on on to do the soldering etc.

I hope this helped
