No Pass for Logon

Hi to all,

I have a iBook G4 that was given to us, and we do not have the name and password to access the machine. I dont know what version of Mac os it is ,and we dont have the person who owned it before us. ( What happened is my husband got a construction job to rebuilt a house, and this and another netbook was left behind) is how I got this machine.

Anyway not being a mac user for over 10 years I have forgotten if there is a work around to this to get it up and running (bypass login)

I know I can get a copy of the version I need for this thru Smalldog but would rather see if I can do it otherwise

You'll have to have a system installation disk. If you will give me the specs on the machine (probably located in the battery compartment) I'll lead you to the correct system.

ok here it is and if you have a reputable place I can Buy a system instalation cd from would be appreciated.

Your best OS install would be 10.4. I believe you might be able to use the restore discs for an iBook, which are located here.

Mayer- based on the posters three different questions, each stating a different story on how the iBook was acquired, I don't believe the poster is being entirely truthful. You may want to reference back to this.

Hi Josh,

Thank you for the quick response. I bought Panther to start, and then Ill get tiger after I install Panther. I found out it has 10.2 on it, so i have to go thru the motions and do Panther first.
