I am in possession of an ipod where I have no info on it's past.
It has no battery in it, but when I plug a sync cable into the port it boots up to the apple logo then reboots over and over again. It's my understanding that the ipod NEEDS a battery attached to it in order to boot... is this true or not?
If it does need a battery then something must be shorted, what should I look for?

If it doesn't need a battery then why would no other ipod I've worked on booted without a battery?
