Hi @funmifunmi ,
Does the audio cut out from the main speakers when the headphones are plugged in?
Have these earphones worked OK with this tablet before or never worked with this tablet?
With the earphones plugged in, try ''very gently (stress very gently)'' moving the plug up and down or from side to side an listen if you get audio coming and going or if it is there with the plug held in a certain position.
What can happen is the earphone socket has springs that come into contact with the rings on the earphone plug and if these springs have lost a bit of tension or if the plug has a slightly smaller (and I mean slight) diameter then the connection is not established.
The earphone plug may work in another socket due to it maybe having more tensioned spring contacts and another plug may work in the tablet socket due to the plug having a slightly larger diameter.
It might seem strange but not all plugs are exactly the same size e.g. some say that they are 3.5mm and others say 1/8th inch but 3.5mm = 0.137 inches and not 0.125 inches (or 1/8th in = 3.175 mm).
+As you can see not much difference but maybe enough.
+
The only way to overcome this is to change the socket and see if that works any better
