Nintendo Wii: 120V power adapter connected to 220V

I plugged in my power supply without the voltage adapter, so it blew. I've already replaced the fuse with a 2.5A 392 fuse and a V7271U varistor. The Wii still won't turn on. I measured the 12V output, and it reads between 7V and 9V. Do you know where I should check to find the possible problem?

update1: thank @dan0 for the response. Unfortunately, I can't test the Wii on its own, since I don't have another power adapter right now, but I'll try to get one. However, the voltage readings I took were from the power adapter itself, at the 12V output.

This is a general view of the transformer with the integrated circuits I mentioned earlier already replaced.

There's the fuse and the varistor that were replaced after they burned out.

Measure the output voltage at these two points: at the cable connector that connects to the Wii, and at the cable output from the motherboard.

Nintendo Wii: Defective Replacement Wii DVD Drive - Clicking and Read Errors (Order #US3456213)

I recently purchased and installed a replacement Nintendo Wii DVD Drive (Order #US3456213). The installation went smoothly and the drive recognizes media initially, but as soon as a game is launched, the drive makes a loud clicking sound and displays the blue screen error: "An error has occurred. Press the Eject Button and remove the disc, then turn the Wii console off and refer to the Wii Operations Manual for help troubleshooting." This occurred on the first use of the new drive.

It seems the drive has a tracking problem or a mechanical defect. I would like to request a warranty replacement for this part.

Nintendo Wii: only reads a few game disks

Hello, my Wii has gotten a bit grumpy lately and would not read disks, I cleaned the laser lens with some isopropal alcohol an a q-tip, but now it only reads a few games from my collection, even then it takes a few tries of taking the disk out and putting it back in to get to the disk channel menu. Sometimes disconnecting the console from my TV(27" Panasonic Tau) to get a read, this makes me think either the power brick or the laser diode is going out. the model number is RVL-001 and the games it can read are: Lego Indiana Jones, Wii Sports, The Sims 3, Super Mario Galaxy, I Spy Spooky Mansion, Elebits, DDR Hottest Party 2, and A Boy And His Blob. so only around 1/3 of my games. Once it boots into the game it seems to be fine. any help would be greatly appreciated

Nintendo Wii: Wii Disc Drive Broken Gear - Possible to Fix?

I have a wii disc drive that will accept discs, but will not eject them. Upon tear down the disc drive makes some noises presumably coming from this one gear i noticed. On closer inspection it seems this one plastic gear is slightly cracked? Is there anyway to repair this or, is buying a new disc drive my best bet? Attached is pictures.

whenever I put my Mario galaxy disc in (which is brand new BTW) it reads the disc plays for a minute or two and then It just crashes and says, please eject disc a turn off the console. what should I do?

Nintendo Wii: Where can I find 3D print files for the GC port covers?

So my Wii's GC port covers are broken, and I want to 3D print some new ones for it. The only problem is, I can't design new covers because the original ones aren't in good enough condition to use as a reference for CADing. So then I checked all of the 3D print file websites I know of and searched to see if anyone had already designed them, but I couldn't find files for new port covers on any site I checked (Thingiverse, MakerWorld, etc.). Does anyone know of a site that does have files for these port covers?

I put the disk in. The wii ejects it after a few seconds. It then attempts to suck it back in followed shortly by an eject again and it doesn't suck it in again.

Nintendo Wii: Why is my Wii producing a dark picture?

I got out my old Wii that worked fine for the longest time with no issue, one day I go to turn it one, and the picture displayed is very dim and hard to see but there is still one. I know it is not the tv or the power cable as my grandparent’s Wii still works perfectly and theirs still works fine with my cables and on my tv. What could be the issue and how would I fix it. If I can’t fix it is it possible to get another Wii and transfer the data over to that new one?

Whenever i try connecting my wiimote to my old Wii it doesnt work. Ive tried both sync buttons, on the Wii and the wiimote. I believe the problem is the Wii itself but i am no genius. Mainly because the wiimote connects to my laptop and dolphin emulator. Please help

Nintendo Wii: "System Files Corrupted" error when accessing Wii settings menu

I got an RVL-001 Wii from a thrift store. It is unmodded and on version 4.3U as far as I can tell. It reads discs well enough to display the game channel correctly but won't start them. It also throws a "system files are corrupt" error message when I try to access the Wii settings menu, but I can access the data management menu. I've deleted some channels thinking it might be a banner brick issue. Starting in maintenance mode doesn't help, either. I tried installing homebrew through the bluebomb method but have been unsuccessful. Is this salvageable, or is the thing bricked?

Nintendo Wii: Persistent freeze on wii sports resort golf

Hi,

Me and my roomates are big fans of playing Golf on Wii Sports Resort. We have the original Wii (NA Canada version, RVL-001 I believe) and original remotes with some Motion Plus adapters I bought online (not official I'm pretty sure). We've had some problems with syncing the adapters but always managed to make it work. However, we've had a lagging problem that has now turned in a freezing problem and happens everytime we play Golf. The game starts to lag and then freezes 100%, the remote is unresponsive (not even home button) and the game is hard stuck (altough the soothing wind sound is still playing, and music also when there is some). This happens around 3 holes in the game or before. Other games don't suffer from this problem and even other sports on Wii Sports Resort seem fine. I have even bought a brand new copy of the game thinking it would fix it but I have the same problem.

What I have done:

- Powercycle the wii.

- Clean the air traps of dust.

- Delete the game data.

- Desync (15s on the red button beside the sd card slot) the remote and resync.

- Bought a brand new disc.

- Recalibrate the sensor to max light setting.

- Update the wii system to last version (4.3U).

-Deactivated WiiConnect24.

I read that the disk is double layered and that might be the cause, and I need to clean the lens so I bought the lens cleaning kit and cleaned my lens 2 times today, without success. Could it be that I need a wii RVL-101 version for tbis game? However, I'm a bit skeptical that other games on the same disk are working. Also today I played some 3 holes and it worked fine, for some reason. Any of you ever had this problem and if so, how did you fix it? Thanks in advance for your help!

Nintendo Wii: Wii turns on to black screen and no audio

Hello. My Wii is old as heck but was working fairly well until recently. It turns on to a black screen with no audio. I am getting a source on the TV but there is no response from the Wii. It cannot sync with remotes. It can accept and eject discs still and the all of the lights look normal. I have tried replacing the Bluetooth controller already but that made no difference. There is no visible damage anywhere inside or outside of the machine.

I'm wondering if the Bluetooth controller card I bought may have been DOA or if there is another repair I should try. I have read that this can be a software problem sometimes but there is so much out there to read on these old things.

Nintendo Wii: Won’t boot, Red light only, clicking sound when pressing

I’m having an issue with a Wii (CRVL-CPU-30 board). Before teardown it was basically normal(but it quiet beatup so I think try cleaning), but during disassembly I stopped when I was about to remove the black plastic/shield. After that, the console no longer boots.

When I plug in power, I get a solid red light (standby).
When I press the power button, the console does not turn on; instead I hear a clicking sound from the motherboard.
If I hold the power button, it just keeps clicking repeatedly.
P/S: PSU Adapter work before and still work for 2 another Wii.

Nintendo Wii: Disc won’t spin after console being left on

I’m so stupid. I accidentally left my Wii running for probably a month or longer with a game paused. I completely forgot about it, and just so happened to remember randomly as I’ve been planning on starting another game.

The game was still up on the pause menu, but the music didn’t sound right (was playing Wind Waker), and I went to save it and it worked as normal until it said “error. Please restart the console and refer to Wii instruction manual.”

I restarted it, and then turned it back on, and noticed that it wasn’t spinning the disc anymore. I pressed the eject button and it worked as normal and same with reinserting it, but still no spin. I completely unhooked the power from the outlet and the back of the Wii, and then waited about 5 minutes and tried again with two separate discs and same thing. It would try, but then wouldn’t succeed in starting to spin it. I’ve taken the Wii apart now, because if anything it could just be really dirty (hopeful thinking) as this is my original Wii from 2007 that I’ve been playing since.

As soon as I opened up the disc compartment I noticed this thin filament wire around where the disc would spin. I’m not super knowledgeable on any of this stuff and I’m just going off of what I’m finding online and taking things really slow and cleaning what I can with rubbing alcohol and a q-tip as I go, but I can’t find anything online about this little wire that wraps around this area here (very much likely I’m just searching the wrong thing).

If anyone’s able to give me some insight, I’d really appreciate it. I’d love to be able to repair this myself if possible, but will also be willing to get this repaired elsewhere or replace the whole disc drive if this thing is shot.

Nintendo Wii: Wii making loud grinding sound and ejects disc

I have an old Wii (at least 12 years old) that I’ve occasionally had the same problem with. Strangely, it happened several months ago but not a couple months after that, and it had no problems yesterday but had this problem today.

When I insert a disc, it makes a very loud grinding sound and then ejects the disc after a few seconds. It then pulls the disc back in, makes the same loud grinding sound, and then ejects it again. There are NO error messages and this happens with all discs.

I’m guessing this is just a hardware issue regarding the disc drive, or maybe there’s stuff stuck in there. Does anyone know what I should be looking for if I end up taking it apart? Or should I just try to replace the disc drive? I have no experience with tech repair but I know there are some pretty good guides.

Alternatively, does anyone know if there are places that still repair Nintendo Wii?
