Lenovo 100e Chromebook Gen 4 Won't Power On
The Chromebook does not turn on when you press the Power key.
Faulty Charger
- To verify the charger works, check the power cable for any signs of wear and tear. Considerable damage can affect the charging capability.
- After plugging in, verify the Chromebook is charging (the light next to the power port will light up). If the light does not appear, plug it into another compatible USB-C device and see if it charges.
- If the steps above do not work, replace the charger.
Faulty Battery
- If the device remains powered off, and you have verified your charger works, the problem may be a faulty battery.
- Consider leaving the device plugged in for 2 hours to accumulate charge.
- If the steps above do not work, replace the battery.
Lenovo 100e Chromebook Gen 4 Screen is Frozen or Unresponsive to Touch
The Chromebook's screen does not respond to the keyboard, touchpad, or touch.
Screen is Frozen
- Perform a hard reset.
- Hold down the Refresh key.
- Hold down the Power button as well for 10 seconds.
- Remains frozen and unresponsive.
- Hold down the Power button for 30 seconds to force a shutdown.
Touch Screen Unresponsive
- Check for Chrome OS updates to make sure all features and apps are up to date.
- Go to settings.
- Click About Chrome OS.
- Check for updates.
- Perform a hardware reset.
- Turn off the Chromebook.
- Hold down the Refresh key.
- Press the Power button while continuing to hold down the Refresh key.
- If these don't work, reseat the LCD/Digitizer ribbon cable.
- Power off Chromebook.
- Take it apart and find the LCD/Digitizer ribbon cable.
- If it is damaged it will need to be replaced.
- Otherwise, reconnect it.
- If all else fails, a Powerwash may be needed to reset the whole system.
- Back up any files you wish to keep.
- Sign out of the device.
- Press the keys Ctrl + Alt + Shift + R together on the login screen.
- Alternatively, you can go through Settings > Advanced > Reset Settings > Powerwash.
Lenovo 100e Chromebook Gen 4 Keyboard is Unresponsive
The Chromebook's keyboard doesn't register input or the keys are sticking in place.
Key Input doesn't match output or doesn't work
- Try restarting the Chromebook and make sure your system is up to date.
- You may need to hard reset the Chromebook hardware. You may lose some files in your Downloads folder, so back up anything you want to save.
- Make sure the device is powered off.
- Press and hold the Refresh Key, then press the Power Key.
- When the Chromebook boots up, release the Refresh Key.
- If the hardware reset does not work, consider performing a Powerwash. This will reset your Chromebook to factory settings.
- Back up any files you wish to save to another storage device.
- Make sure you are signed out of your Chromebook.
- Press and hold Control + Alt + Shift + R.
- Select Restart.
- Select Powerwash, then Continue.
- If the steps above do not work, consider replacing the keyboard module.
Keys are sticking
- Make sure the Chromebook is turned off.
- Try to use compressed air or a soft brush to clean around the sticking key.
