Mag Strip is Dirty
If there are problems with positioning of ink or smears in the paper then you may need to replace the mag strip. Begin the repair process by unplugging the printer from its power source. Locate the four screws that hold the scanner bed on the printer, two of them are under the flap on the top back of the printer, and the other two screws are inside the paper drawer, upside down, on the top. Unscrew the 4 screws that hold the scanner bed and button pad with the appropriate Torx screwdriver. Slowly remove the scanner bed lid to the whole printer, taking caution to unplug the two ribbon cables connecting the scanner bed lid to the printer body by gently pulling them out of the plugs straight out. The mag strip is found running through the ink carriage assembly. In order to remove the strip, apply inward pressure to the silver connection located on the right hand side of the mag strip. While applying pressure to the right push the strip off the left hand hook. Remove the mag strip from the ink carriage simply by pulling it up. Lastly lift the strip vertically and unhook it from the silver strip. Replace in reverse order. *note when hooking the mag strip back ensure the arrow on the replacement mag strip is to the right and facing downwards.*
Printer Will Not Turn On or Respond
Your printer will not turn on, or does not respond to any inputs
Motherboard is Damaged/Faulty
Before beginning this procedure, ensure the printer is unplugged from power and all accessories to reduce the risk of serious electric shock. The motherboard is located at the back-left corner of the inside of the printer, and is secured by two more Torx screws. There are four plugs on the motherboard, gently wiggle the plugs out, taking care not to pull the plugs out by the wires. There are four ribbon cable slots on the motherboard as well, gently pull the remaining ribbon cables straight out, taking note of which cable plugs into which slot. Finally, unscrew the two torx screws securing the motherboard, freeing the board. Replace in the reverse steps.
Paper is Jammed
Paper will not come out when printing
Paper is Stuck in the Printer
First, press the button with a large red “x”; this button is used to cancel a print. If this does not fix the jam, turn off and then unplug the printer. Check all of the places where paper can enter and exit the printer. If a piece of paper is stuck, remove it from the printer. Be sure to check for any torn paper.
Rollers are Dirty
Begin by performing an automated self clean. To begin an automated clean, hold down the power button, and while it is held, press the button with a large red “x” three times, and then press the button with a blue, yellow, and pink edge eight times. Release the power button. A single sheet of paper will be fed through the printer. Wait until the sheet is completely through the printer before removing. Once the automated clean is complete, attempt a print again. If the paper jam persists, you must manually clean the rollers. First, turn off and unplug the printer. To access the rollers, remove any paper in the feeding tray, and lift the clear plastic flap from the top of the printer. Look down the feeding section. Take a lightly damped cotton swab, and apply to the grey segments of the rollers. Rotate the rollers to completely clean the grey segments. Once the cleaning is completed, wait for around 10 minutes for the rollers to dry.

If this procedure does not work, there is another option on the “Scan Issues” page to talk to an agent.
Scanner Glass is Broken
Locate the four screws that hold the scanner bed on the printer, two of them are under the flap on the top back of the printer, and the other two screws are inside the paper drawer, upside down, on the top. Unscrew the 4 screws that hold the scanner bed and button pad with the appropriate Torx screwdriver. Slowly remove the scanner bed lid to the whole printer, taking caution to unplug the two ribbon cables connecting the scanner bed lid to the printer body by gently pulling them straight out of the plugs. Lift the lid upward. To take the scanner glass cover off, lift the lid straight up off the tabs. Now you should see two tabs on each of the short ends as well as four tabs on each of the long ends of the lid connected to the glass. Loosen each of these tabs (this may take several attempts) and lift the glass off its lid. On the panel the glass is directly connected to, there will be two tabs on the long edge and five tabs on the short edge. Carefully lift the glass out of these tabs. To put the glass back to its original position, follow the previous steps in reverse.
