Check the spool:
When the spool reels in the power cord, an internal wheel spins, which the cord sits nested on. As the user pulls out the power cord, the cord should lock at whatever distance the user decides to extend the cord out to. To see if the spool needs maintenance, please refer to the device’s user manual, or follow the instructions below.
- Flip the black tab on top of the filter and debris tank to release the tank itself.
- Under where the tank sat, unscrew the single black screw that lies adjacent to the yellow cord reeling button
- Unscrew another singular black screw that lies down and to the left of the yellow cord reeling button.
- On the opposite side of the screw, pry off the black panel that envelopes the bottom base of the vacuum.
- Unscrew the visible top three and bottom three black screws of the base where the winded up cord and spool rests. Two additional adjacent screws lie on top of the base towards the neck of the vacuum. Remove these screws
Check the spool wire:
- Remove spring loaded spool and inspect spool wire that is contacted by the reeling button. It is on top of the spool.
- If the reeling button is not making contact with the spool wire then the spring will not be compressed, therefore the cord will not retract.
- Adjust the spool wire so that the reeling button makes contact with it and allows the spring to compress.
