Poor Battery Life
The computer battery doesn't last as long as desired.
The Surrounding Temperature Is Causing Battery Inefficiency
Temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius or 86 degrees Fahrenheit can hurt the battery efficiency, along with temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius or 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Prolonged exposure to extreme temperatures increases stress on the battery during usage and charging, which lowers its overall life expectancy. Avoid keeping your laptop in locations that are hot or cold. Room temperature is ideal.
The Computer Is Using Older Software
Older software can cause the battery to drain faster than it would with updated software. If you're using an older software, update your Asus ROG Strix to the latest software. This should hopefully improve overall battery life and efficiency.
The Battery Is Old or Damaged
As batteries age, the charge capacity greatly decreases. Even if the Asus ROG Strix is a new laptop, it is still possible that the battery could be older and more inefficient. Luckily, you can solve this problem by simply replacing the battery.
High Computer Temperature
The computer heats up significantly while in use.
The Processor Is Working too Hard
You don't want to overwhelm your Asus with multiple hours of gaming to the point that it will overheat. Turn off your laptop to let it cool down for a few minutes then restart it.
The Computer Graphics Driver Is Outdated
The Asus ROG Strix GL702VM-BHI7N09 has a NVIDIA GeForce graphics driver that can make the computer do extra processing work if it is not up to date, causing the computer to heat up. Visit geforce.com/drivers and click Automatic Driver Updates to download the latest driver update. Once the download is complete, go ahead and install the driver.
The Cooling Fans Aren't Working Properly
If the computer still has heat issues after letting it cool down and updating the software, it could be an issue with the cooling fans. While it is uncommon, the fans may be malfunctioning or may have disconnected from the battery. To solve this issue, consider replacing one or multiple cooling fans.
Slow Performance
The computer performs slower than desired.
The Computer Software Is Not up to Date
A common cause of slow running speed on computers is old or outdated software. Simply update your computer to the latest software to improve the running speed.
Programs Are Running in the Background
Another reason why your computer might be running slow could be because it is trying to run too many programs at the same time. Go ahead and open up Task Manager (accessed by Ctrl+Alt+Del) and see if any programs are sneakily running in the background. They could be using up most of the processing speed on your computer.
The Computer Has a Virus or Malware
If your computer still seems to run slower than it should after updating the software and closing out unnecessary background programs, you might want to check your device for a possible virus or malware. Viruses and malware have the potential to slow or even completely ruin your computer. Open up your security software (Norton, McAfee, etc.) and run a full system diagnostic test. This is the most thorough way to check if there are any mysterious viruses running rampant in your device, and the security software will try to fix them.
The Hard Drive Is Old or Damaged
An outdated or broken hard drive can cause your computer to run slower than under normal conditions. If none of the above causes appear to be the issue, you may have to consider replacing your hard drive.
