Important Note:
In all cases of troubleshooting, the first thing that should be checked is if there are any Windows updates available. Most common issues can be solved by updating Windows. This can be done by going into Settings, then clicking on Updates, then clicking on Check for Updates. If the computer and the drivers are all updated, and the problem persists, This page provides possible diagnoses and guides to help you fix it!
The power button is unresponsive
When pressing the power button, The laptop fails to turn on.
Faulty Battery
To identify if the battery is faulty, plug your charger into the charger port and find the battery icon on the bottom right of the monitor in the taskbar. The icon should have what looks like a battery beside a power plug, if you do not see the power plug then your computer is not charging, and you'll need to get an extra charger. If your device only turns on when connected to the charger then the battery pack is faulty. Follow this link to replace the battery pack.
Jammed Contact with Motherboard
Similar Acer Nitro 5 models have a pressurized switch in the middle of the keyboard which can result in a jammed contact and an unresponsive power button. To fix this, it is necessary to use the pinhole reset on the motherboard. This requires access to the CMOS on the motherboard.
The laptop will not hold a charge
The laptop will lose most if not all power unexpectedly.
Accelerated Battery Loss
Your laptop comes with a setting that can enable changes in the performance of both the CPU and the GPU to save power. This can be enabled through the battery page in Settings. This will remove power draining options and lower the display brightness to save battery.
Faulty Battery
If the laptop can not hold a charge, then there is a possible problem with the battery pack. to check this, plug in the laptop to the charger and see if the laptop begins to charge. You can see this by observing the battery icon on the bottom right of the monitor. If it is charging then the battery pack is faulty and needs to be replaced. Follow this guide to replace the battery.
Too Many Background Processes
An abundance of background applications and processes running can cause the laptop to lose battery charge at an accelerated rate. To check this, press your windows button on your laptop's keyboard or the windows logo or magnifying glass on the taskbar. This will open a search tab. Type in "Task Manager" which will take you to your computer's processes management software. Right-Click on any undesired applications and select the end task. This will end the task and lessen the toll on your computer.
Laptop not charging when connected to a charger
When connected to the charger, The laptop's battery fails to charge.
Faulty/Broken Charger
The charger may be broken. To check obtain another charger and attempt to charge the laptop.
Battery Malfunction
If the laptop refuses to charge with a charger that is in working condition then the battery may be at fault. This will require the battery to be replaced. To do this obtain a new battery, remove the screws from the bottom of the laptop, and take the bottom cover off. Then unscrew the current battery from the case and remove it. Next, take the new battery and install it in the slot, and screw it into place. Then, place the bottom cover back into place and screw on it. Finally, attempt to charge the device again.
The display turns black when in use
The display on the laptop turns black when in use.
Outdated Software
Make sure your computer is on the latest Windows Update. This can be done by accessing the settings page on your computer and clicking on Windows Update. If there is an update available, begin updating and installing the update to make sure that the computer is on the latest software. If on the latest update then there may be other issues
Corrupted Drivers
A loss of the display can be attributed to outdated or corrupted graphic card drivers. The Acer Nitro has an Nvidia Graphics card. This card requires separate software to download and install drivers called GeForce Experience. You must first download and install the software first and can do by clicking this link. Once installed it will automatically diagnose and find the latest drivers update for your graphics card.
Touchpad Not Working
The device's touchpad is not operating properly or at all.
Touchpad Settings Disabled
The device's touchpad may be disabled. To re-enable the touchpad, press the FN key and the F7 key at the same time. Test to see if the touchpad is working.
Outdated Firmware
The laptop will not work properly if the driver is corrupted or out of date.
To update your driver, open Device Manager. Expand Mice and other pointing devices, right-click on the touchpad driver, and select Properties. Click on the driver tab, then on Update Driver. Select Search automatically for drivers. Check to see if the touchpad is working.
To uninstall the driver, open Device Manager. Click on the driver tab, then on Uninstall Device. Click Uninstall. After the uninstalling process is complete, restart your PC. Check to see if the touchpad is working.
Defective Hardware
If the laptop's touchpad settings and the drivers are fully updated. There is probably an issue with the touchpad itself. The touchpad, fortunately, can be replaced. follow this guide to see how to replace your laptop's touchpad.
The device displays a blue screen (Blue Screen of Death)
The device displays a blue screen when in use.
Firmware is Outdated
Blue Screen of Death is the result of either software driver issues or hardware malfunctions. To check if it is software make sure that all your computer drivers are up to date. This is done in Device Manager. If your drivers are fully updated and the issue persists, make sure to fully update Windows as that may be the issue. This is done on the Windows Update page inside Settings.
Insufficient RAM
Common blue screening can occur from faulty or insufficient RAM. RAM is a hardware part located on the motherboard of your PC. This can become unattached when used, leading to a blue screen. To fix RAM, follow this link to replace and access your laptop's RAM component.
The laptop is not connecting to Wi-Fi
The laptop cannot connect to Wi-Fi.
The device in Airplane Mode
The laptop is in Airplane Mode and turns off all wireless communications such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Cellular communication. To fix check whether the device has Airplane Mode activated. If so, turn Airplane Mode off. If not, proceed to the other possible causes of this problem.
Router Down
Check on the laptop the available Wi-Fi connections available to the device. If the desired connection is unavailable then that connection may be down. To fix this see if the router is in working order. If need be do a quick restart of the router. This is often done by turning the router off for 15 seconds and turning it back on.
Outdated Firmware
Your computer has software drivers that may have not been automatically updated. To check this, click both Win+R and type in "devmgmt.msc" which will open Device Manager. Identify the Network Adapter "Intel Dual Band Wireless" right-click on the device and click on "Properties". Click on Install or Update Drivers which will then ask you to specify if you want certain drivers or to automatically update drivers to their latest version. We recommend updating to the latest version to ensure the laptop can connect to Wi-Fi.
Windows Bug
If all other methods help fix your laptop's Wi-Fi problems, The final course of action is to perform a windows reset. This is done on the Settings page. Search Windows Reset and you will be taken to the Reset page where you can restart and choose to either factory reset your laptop or just simply restart the computer.
If none of these software fixes help there may be an issue with the network adapter hardware.
The device Freezes and Does Not Respond
The Device will freeze and will not respond to commands.

Device freezing can be a result of CPU malfunction. The Central Processing Unit can be replaced with a similar processor that is compatible with your laptop's motherboard.
