I have this exact problem, and i did everything you suggested (new digitizer, compleate dissasebly and cleaning with alcohal) and it still will not function. The lcd screen also flickers. Please any help would be greatly accepted

So i have found out that the digitizer works properly on another ipod. I also took apart the whole ipod and cleaned everything and put it back together. No luck. Any suggestions please?

Well the lcd seems to function properly, lockes and unlocks and i can see the music selection if i double tap the home button (but cannot press the play skip forward or backward buttons or the volume slider), but the connector for the digitizer seems to be in working order, But i will take a closer look with a magnifying glass.
