With my iMac internal HD unplugged, will HD temp sensors go crazy?iMac 21" 2011 mid2011 I plan to boot my iMac 21" 2011 mid2011 solely from a external SSD via Thunderbolt and I do not want...
Resposta para "Possible to safely upgrade the drive to SSD?"Hi - Sorry if I missed the advice for my question here but: What I want to do is remove the built-in Apple 3.5 HD on my iMac late 2009 27" 11,1 and replace it with a SSD. My goal is to not have a spinning HD in the thing. Can someone kindly tell me if this is feasible and what I need to do? I gather there is a heat sensor / fan control issue if the sensor on the 3.5 HD is not attached, correct? Of course I figure I'll need some kind of 2.5 to 3.5 HD mount. If anyone can provide a link - thank you! Thanks Update: Did some more reading so I'm more up to speed here now.. So it seems from some posts I've read here and other places that shorting the HD thermal cable at it's connectors is one way to avoid the fans from running high or use the hdd fan control software mentioned here. I'd like to avoid both of those methods.. Does anyone know of a 2.5 to 3.5 HD mount a SSD can fit into that has a thermal sensor input the iMac thermal sensor can plug into? Thanks
