Seeing as this iMac is no longer new and I’m reopening this question. I don’t have much upgrade experience (dates to far back to count), so I would like to know what I can to to improve this Mac’s performance as I find it slower than my mid-2014 MacBook Air at times with multiple apps and Safari open.
Hello, Since when this happens you may have no internet access, first do one of these to have access: (1) Bluetooth tether to your cellphone. (2) Ethernet cable connect to your router - box Then do a Windows update and then your drivers via Device Manager. I had Qualcomm & Realtek network devices for my network, but I also updated all of my drivers . Restart the PC and still it didn’t work, though it solved lots of my other issues . So what worked??? (1) Disconnecting my router - box and reconnecting it And voila! My Asus PC could now see my box again.
My connector to the antenna cable had been pulled up and even trying to remove it carefully was to no avail so the connecter broke from the green strip. Might be best to go to next step and slightly lift up the entire assembly if yours is like mine was.
The seventh black screw nearest the silver screw has smaller crosshairs then the others so the screwdriver bit furnished is slightly too large and will damage the screw if you insist. Better to find a smaller one from an eyeglasses repair kit.
You must heat the battery two or more times with the iOpener in order to remove it because if you don’t (and even if you do) the battery will certainly bend. So the battery removal has to be done delicately. Lift each corner a very tad bit and the sides to finally lift out as shown.
Very gently lift the silver connecter that was under the battery connecter plate and is at the end of the orange battery cable with the flat end of the spudger as indicated.
Note that there is a copper-colored sticker to lift up near the flat cable connected from the phone the finger pad. Lift the main board plate (shield) up SLOWLY from the camera side to the other end as the plate is wedged in place.

Pry up in both corners to remove.

Wiggle the black rubber cover off a little in order to see how to lift out.
Battery easily torn. The kit should include a battery as it’s VERY delicate and would be saved if you have the replacement battery.
This step takes at least 15-20 minutes.

There are four silver screws and two black to be removed.
