In a previous repair, i broke the zif, what you want to do is hold it down while removing the tape, otherwise it will pull the parts up with it.
Since it was broke i put a piece of electrical tape on top for the pressure the zif would push down, then another piece from the screw hole to the bend in the cable, so it does not come loose when putting back together.
Seriously, elmers glue? iFixit has the glue strip on it that need to be removed.
The challenge with this step is the screen had a larger than normal tab sticking out by the cables, and i could not figure out how it fits in, and it is not on the orginial, nor on the 5 other videos i watched, so it must have been a change at some point. It looks like it goes between the screen and case, in the small gap, but then it pushes on the home button and can dislodge it. Good luck with that step.
he is missing an important connector. that one without anything in it is for the screen. that came out when the cover is removed, easy. They tricky one is the home button cable. that pulls out toward the home button, and i think there is a release or holder that needs to be removed. This step should be broken into two, with a picture for this cable. The iFixit cover is better, as it has the home button with it, while cheaper ones do not. So you may need to leave that plugged in, and save the home button from the old screen.
The iFixit tool set has a gel pack, longer than the iPad. Microwave it for 30 seconds, and give it 3 minutes on a side and it will be easier to remove. Works a lot better than a hair dryer. A heat gun is also better than a hair dryer.
