It could also be related to an issue with one of your ram dimms. Take one of the dimms out and try again, if that doesn't work do the same thing but this time with the other dimm or different one.
Why do you need to extend the home button flex, it’s already long enough to plug it in. This a very hard thing to do. I have replaced a cable on a home button that has been ripped following Rewa Labs on YouTube. It’s very hard and very time consuming. I would not recommend doing this unless absolutely necessary.
The charge port connector sits very close to the battery connector, I would check to see if you accidentally lifted it up a bit. If that’s not it, I’m not exactly sure what could have happened if you only replaced the home button.
So I work at a phone repair shop and went to replace the screen on my iPhone 7 today, and i accidentally grabbed an iPhone 8 screen. To my surprise it works, i don’t see any difference but i’m going to switch it out just to be safe. True tone doesn’t work either ;(
