Meu Problema
Dead battery and dead hard drive - time to make the old Ipod better than when it was new! The click wheel is still hard to beat for navigating music, and I did not want to buy a new ipod with a hard drive (moving parts) inside. And for half the cost of a new ipod. (An iphone can also play music, but the battery just doesn't last.)
Minha Solução
Everything went exactly as described in the guide - except for getting the battery out - the spudger is really needed then, the battery leads just snapped off when I tried using them to lift the battery. My kid also appeared in the midst of it all with a fresh radish and threw it on the open ipod, with earth flying all over.
Meu Conselho
I highly recommend replacing the hard drive with an SSD (I used a 64GB drive), when having it all opened up. The hard drive replacement is trivial when the Ipod is already open. As a bonus, no more moving parts, and thus no spin-up time when starting the ipod.
