Difficult

Meu Problema

Home button lost sensitivity after a few months. Could still use it, but only after repeated clicks. "Double clicking" became almost impossible. Apparently this is a common problem.

Minha Solução

Went well! The new button works as it should.

No need for any special tools except for a precision screwdriver set. Helps to lay out all screws in order... say top to bottom on a clean sheet of paper, so that "step one" screws are at top, "step two" are below them... etc.

To you guys over at iFixit.... Thanks so much for the detailed instructions. This was a breeze. You guys are awesome.

Meu Conselho

After removing the battery, the guide mentions a "pressure contact." I am 95% sure that my phone did not have this piece installed to begin with. Its possible it slipped out when I opened the phone and I didn't notice it (but I don't think so). I was a little worried, but after reassembling without this piece the phone works fine and reception is at 100%. This seems to be a contact to an antenna on the back plate... perhaps its not used on AT&T phones?

Also, there is a step where the guide says, "be sure the four small EMI fingers rest below the lip of the LCD frame." BE CAREFUL.. these little "fingers" are extremely delicate. One of them broke off while I was working with it... and there's no hope of soldering it back on because its so tiny. Luckily, the three remaining contacts do the job and everything seems to be working fine.
