Meu Problema
A constant hazard: tripping on the power cord that plugs into a laptop. Little did I know that with constant trips not only can it destroy the end of cable attachment, but that little piece of circuitry called the DC-in board!
When the computer first blanked out, the inevitable thoughts crossed my mind: mother board? LCD screen?
Then, when I was able to start it up briefly without the battery, it was obvious the battery was dead -- but I just replaced it!
With a little wiggling and jiggling, I suspected an old-fashioned short -- I was right.
Minha Solução
The Apple store didn't carry such "antiquated" parts (I needed to keep this G4 going since I can't afford a new Intel-based mac yet, plus I would have to buy a whole new Adobe Suite to run on an a new Mac! Apple had me cornered!
The friendly Mac repair store would charge $125, plus the part. But I got a tip from the Apple Genius (why they're named that) to contact ifixit.
I did, and with the help of a former Apple employee friend, I fix(ed) it!
Meu Conselho
My only regret was that I didn't order this sooner (before a complete shutdown) so I had to pay next-day delivery, because of a job deadline, which was as much as the part itself... times are lean!
Thank you for your promised service!
