Meu Problema

chapter one

It all began when I noticed the track pad was moving out from the body of the laptop. Ants? gremlins? I waited, thinking it was, perhaps a midlife laptop crisis and would pass or just settle into being the new normal for an older machine. Fool me. It kept creeping outwards inexorably, slowly like a glacier. So I went to my usual dark street corner to see an informant and what the word on the street was. So - battery bloat. I was kickin' myself. And dangerous stuff too. Luckily, after researching the stacks at the neighborhood search engine I found the guys and gals for the fix. ifixit set me up for peanuts and gave me all the jazz I would need to see the job through.

Minha Solução

chapter two.

The job. All the instructions were so clear and it took such a short time to repeat them I felt a little embarrassed (privately) for lighting all those candles, voodoo, rattle shaking nam-yo-ho-ring-ge-kos and hail marys I did before I began. That took more than the 7 actual minutes it took to take off the back swap the battery out and replace the back. Ok - what to do with the old batter that is actually bulging out all over...? I will deposit at an apple store with a repair facility and hope for the best. So all in all ifixit saved me at least 100$ and days of waiting and hand wringing by presenting me with clear and empowering instructions and reasonably priced tools and parts so I could do it myself! thanks ifixit, you float my boat!

Meu Conselho

..yea so, if you see a bloated trackpad on a macbook pro 2009-12 build run for a new battery before it blows it's top! I do have one bit of advise about afterwards that I did not see written anywhere (not that it wasn't, I can be selectively blind) about plugging in the laptop and then NOT turning it on again until AFTER the battery's been full charged.
