Moderate

Meu Problema

The fans were slowly dying over time and I was ignoring the issue. It wasn't until the fan completely cut out in the system started watchdogging from the machine overheating when I decided that I needed to really get the system repaired so I can get my work done.

Minha Solução

Pulled the old fans out put the new fans in. System runs great and is completely quite - no longer sounds like a Ford Model-T about to stall out (when the fans were on their last leg.)

Meu Conselho

There are a time of screws in the disassembly of the original MacBook Pro. Most of the screws are the same and interchangeable but there are a handful that are different. Use a piece of masking tape to hold them close to the chassis where you remove them so that you don't lose track of where each screw went. Also there's a couple of one off torx screws that I didn't catch in the photos that needed to be removed and for colorblind people the circles do make it difficult to find - if the circles were highlighted in yellow or gold to make them stand out more in the photos it would be greatly helpful.
