Announced on September 9, 2014, the iPhone 6 Plus shows very few external upgrades from the iPhone 6 model, other than an increase in screen size from a 4.7 inch display to a 5.5 inch display. This Apple phone features a 1920x1080 (401 ppi) retina display, an 8 megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization and phase detection autofocus, a 1.2 megapixel front camera, a fingerprint sensor embedded in the home button, and support for "Apple Pay" transactions. Case color choices are silver or gold, both with a white glass front, or space gray with a black glass front and a gray aluminum back.
The iPhone 6 Plus has been infamously known for the IC touchscreen disease. After the release of this phone, many customers have since reported hardware malfunctions in which the touchscreen is rendered unresponsive and a thin gray line is visible at the top of the display. Apple claims that the issue arises when the device has been dropped repeatedly and is caused by a separation of the touch IC chips from the motherboard at the solder points.
