Introdução

This guide is intended to help replace the analog stick on the right Joy-Con for the Nintendo Switch. Please note that this does not reflect the same steps for the left Joy-Con the process although similar is different. If you are looking to replace the left analog stick please follow my other guide with the specific details.

(Note: This replacement is slightly harder than replacing the analog stick of the other Joy-Con mainly because of a tricky reassembly process)

  1. To begin remove the four screws holding on the back plate, a 'Y00' bit works great. Then insert a pick or spudger on the side without the rail to release the back plate.

    • ⚠ Be mindful of the two fragile ribbon cables attaching the rails to the motherboard.

    • Gently pull up on the black and red wire coming from the battery to release it from the motherboard disconnecting power.

    • Insert a spudger underneath the battery to release the adhesive. The battery is now ready to be removed.

  4. Before proceeding remove this grey antenna cable by using a spudger to disconnect it. During reassembly, make sure the cable of the antenna is already wedged into its gaps. Then use a combination of tweezers and a spudger to hold the connector in place and push it in.

    • ⚠ There is a fragile ribbon cable holding this plate onto the mother board do not attempt to remove the plate before reading the next step.

  6. The plastic plate is held onto the mother board by a fragile ribbon cable. This cable does not have much slack to work with carefully open up the plastic plate like the picture shows. This will allow access to the connector for the 'RL' button.

    • The ribbon cable is locked in place by a small grey plastic switch located on the same side that the cable is inserted. Take a spudger and flip this switch upwards and then gently remove the ribbon cable this allows you to remove the plastic plate completely.

    • When reattaching this ribbon cable during reassembly, it is easiest to have the switch on the side furthest from you. This makes it easier to maneuver the tweezers holding the cable and get the ribbon cable into the switch successfully.

  7. Remove the two screws holding in the analog stick, a 'J00' bit works great for this. The analog stick ribbon cable is locked into place by a small black switch located on the opposite side the cable is inserted. Take a spudger and carefully flip the switch upwards, then gently remove the ribbon cable.

A good guide though for the antenna instead of disconnecting the cable it would be easier to simply slide out the plate and wire from the side of the battery tray

Agree with Tyler - no need to disconnect the antenna.

Thanks for the guide!

The antenna and battery don’t need to be disconnected, you can easily move them out of the way.

When reassembling, reconnecting the ribbon cable for the RL button is fiddly, easier if you can avoid disconnecting it as well. Just rotate the plastic battery plate a quarter turn counterclockwise to get it out of the way and access the analog stick.

You can test the controller immediately after seating the joystick to make sure the ribbon cable is properly connected.
