This is just a quick Guide to how to take the Cooler\Heatsink off a Nvidia RTX 2070 Super Founders Edition. Same Guide will work for the 2080 and 2080 super too.

No Screws on this side of the card. Turn Card over for next Step.

Remove the 14 small screws marked in Blue using a Phillips 0 screwdriver/bit and remove the two screws marked in burgundy with a Phillips 1 screwdriver/bit. Then remove the NV-Link Cover as marked in green by sliding the cover up.

Once Backplate removed, Check backplate for any broken Thermal Pads and replace as needed with the same size and thickness.

Remove the 4 small screws marked in Red holding the io shield to each port and then remove the 3 screws marked in Blue that holds the io shield to the PCB. A Philips 1 works fine for these screws.

Remove the 14 Hex bolts marked in Red using a Hex 4.0mm Screwdriver/bit and then remove the 4 main screws using a philips 1 screwdriver/bit. After all Hex and screws have been removed then carefully pry the heatsink and pcb being careful not to completely separate as there is a cable plugged in for the Fans/LED's under the heatsink.

The Plug for the Fans\LED needs to be unplugged before removing the heatsink

Once PCB has been separated from the Heatsink then check if any Thermal pads (Marked in Red) need replacing (These are very thin) and remove thermal paste (Marked in Blue) with isopropyl alcohol and use a Good Thermal paste covering the whole shiny part of the SOC..

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order. Please remember to plug the Fan/LED plug back in when reassembling
